Grades

Grades will be broken up as follows

	Midterm:	20 %
	Final:	30 %
	Homework:	50 %

Tests

If anyone has a religious holiday during any of the tests please let me know as soon as possible. Unlike homeworks, there will be NO collaboration on the take home exams.

Take Home Midterm: This exam will be handed out on March 5th and due at the beginning of class on March 17th.
Final Exam: This exam will be handed out on April 21th and due at the beginning of class on April 28th.

Test scores will be posted on the Blackboard website for this class

Homeworks

Homework will be posted at the course website on Tuesdays. Homework will be due at the beginning of class one week after they are assigned. Late homeworks will not be accepted without special permission.
After all homeworks have been turned in, a solution set will be posted on the course website
Collaberation on homeworks is strongly encouraged. However, each person must write up their solutions themselves and put on the homework the names of everyone they worked with.

In determining the grades for the homework three problems will be chosen at random. The break up of the homework will then be

	Finishing All Problems:	25%
	Problem 1:	25%
	Problem 2:	25%
	Problem 3:	25%

Homework Wild Cards: Several times this semester the math department will be hosting undergraduate colloquia. If you attend a colloquia and write a summary (not exceeding one page single spaced) in clear English of what was covered that will count as a homework wild card. Each homework wild card will be graded with either a 0, 1, or 2 depending on its quality.

If it is given a 0 then it has no effect.
If it is given a 1 then its value is the average of your top six homework assignments and it replaces your lowest homework grade.
If it is given a 2 then its value is the average of your top four homework assignments and it replaces your lowest homework grade.
