Speculative proposal

Speculative proposal

Oliver Knill

In the spring of 2004, I saw a flyer in the Harvard Science center, which asked for "speculative proposals" to redesign exercise equipment to generate and store energy. I found this idea quite hilarious and sent in a ray-traced picture of the Science Center which is modified in such a way that various exercise equipment and stairs can be used to generate energy. One idea would be that anybody works up the stairs and go down the elevators - reusable energy.

My abstract: "Use of existing space on roof of Science Center for gym and coffee shop. Scenic stairs allow recreational tour of the building and a view of Harvard."
