Serpent's Path is a bit of an enigma. There is high level
mathematics involved. It is a story of revenge.
The story is not very uplifting:
since Miyashita's daughter was murdered. He hires
Nijima, a math teacher to carry kidnap and torture the responsible.
Searching for the true culprit, Miyashita and
Nijima follow the mathematical logic of revenge but fall into an
endless cycle of violence. Maybe the association was the "snake lemma"
in algebraic topology, but that is way too trivial in comparison with the math involved
