This movie is indeed a bit artistic. Something for film critics at a film festivals, very slow and a bit strange.
From a mathematical point of view, there is a night scene, where the girl arouses herself watching a
drawing in the book "The Treatise on Man" of Descartes. And then there is a school scene in which
Almee explains, how much 100 years is. She explains the kids that they just live at the turn of a new century (1900).
This prompts one of the pupils pointing out that Almee (her teacher) will be dead in 2000.
In any case, as Judi Dench would say playing Mrs Fairfax in the 2011 adaptation of Jane Eyre:
"This looks very French!". This French movie is maybe one of the prototypes of French cinema.
It is also a movie which belongs to the ``alpen genre". (See a collection of
