Boston Library January 2017
The Boston library renovations near Copley Square was finished
last summer (see Boston globe article).
Also in the Boston Globe one can find something about the
history of the library. Designed by the architect Charles Follen McKim, it opened in 1895.
A new section was added in 1972, designed by the architect Philip Johnson. That annex had been built in a typical Corbusier type concrete
bunker style with concrete walls blocking the view to the outside. The renovations have softened the taste of the 70ies considerably.
It looks now gorgeous. Click on a picture to see it larger.
