Get scanned and 3D printed.
From the Article:
Thanks to a German company called Twinkind anyone can order a miniature
statue of themselves or their beloved pet.
The figurines are produced by scanning the customer with state-of-the-art
360-degree scanning equipment and then printing out a 3D replica using
layer upon layer of composite powder.
You'll have to visit the Hamburg studio to get yourself scanned, but
scanning takes a split second and printing takes just 15 to 30 minutes.
Customers can either wait for their figurine or have it mailed to them.
The figures are extremely lifelike, down to hairstyles, shoes,
accessories, colors, and even the wrinkles in clothing. But there are
some fabrics-like silk, tulle, and chiffon- that the scanner has trouble
with. Clothing with high-frequency patterns like dots or thin lines and
highly pigmented makeup is also not recommended.
Glasses must be taken off during the scanning process, but can be
reintroduced to the digital model after before printing begins.
Customers can choose between several sizes of figurines ranging from
six inches () to 13 inches (,700).
